I love coming across stuff like this. That's probably the most elaborate stage banter section I've ever heard them do.

A lot of late-71 shows have great banter. 10/30/71 springs to mind, which was a radio broadcast, so perhaps some of it was intentional. Anyway, hilarious comments all the way through the show, including the part where Jerry starts to fuck with an audience member who keeps screaming for Truckin. Jerry starts to mess with the guy, who's probably dosed to the gills:

Jerry: “Come on, man, come on, man, you gotta be a cop? Is that it? ‘Play Truckin… Play Truckin’[pause] We’ll play whatever we like… Of course that’s not saying you won’t like it. You might like it too. You might like it too. It might be alright. It might be something perfectly o-kay… What about all those people that might not like Truckin’? [long pause] Well, how about it man?”

Bobby tries to break the tension by announcing to the people under the balcony that, “any minute now they’re going to be dropping a whole load of live chickens on you.” Then, after Sugar Mag and before they finally do play Truckin, we get Phil, zeroing in on the annoying fan: “Okay man, this one’s for you. This is the one you’ve been waiting to hear.”

Whose voice is it on the 10/23/73 Bloomington, MN clip who starts by saying, 'Hey we can't play anymore here you guys...'.
It's def not Bob, Jerry or Phil.

Agreed--thanks for sharing! But they painstakingly coaxed everyone back to their seats and then played Around and Around? That's mixed messages, I think.
